Hezekiah James !

Well he's here and doing great! We went into the hospital on the 19th at 2:30 as planned and got ready, I was definitely nervous. But we had the best nurses and all of the staff was so nice and welcoming! A huge difference from our last experience at SMH. The doctor was 2 hours behind because of emergencies, the hardest part about that was that I was so thirsty! I hadn't had ANYTHING to eat or drink since 8:00 that morning. I just wanted a drink :) At the same time I was praying for the families that needed to have the emergencies, we've been there and I know the thing these families needed most was prayer. So at about 6:15 we went back to the O.R. and got started. Hezekiah was born at 6:54. The first thing I heard was his beautiful cry, and that in turn made me cry. It really was the best sounding cry I think I've ever heard! The doctor lifted him over the sheet and my first thought was I love him so much already, he's perfect! He weighed 6 pounds and 12 ounces and was 19 and 3/4 inches long! I got to hold him as soon as we were in recovery and he was just looking at me and seemed to be taking everything in. We finally made it to our room at 9:30 and the nurse told us that Myron had to leave at 10:00 :( We were a little sad about that but understood. ( we were sharing a room with someone else ) I was discharged on Saturday afternoon! And boy was I glad to be home and see my kiddos! I'm pretty sure the feeling was mutual. They were so happy to meet their new brother. ( no one under 18 was allowed in the hospital because of H1N1 ) We've been home and adjusting to life with our new little guy ever since! He is such a good baby, he's awake to eat and cries when he needs a new diaper or is hungry. I'm loving every minute of it!! ( even the late night feedings )

Getting Ready for Hezekiah!!

Today is Monday the 16th of November, and in just 3 short days I'm scheduled to have my 8th blessing!! I'm getting a little nervous, but excited at the same time. I've been "nesting" these last couple of weeks ans I always like the way that makes me feel....closets cleaned out and reorganized, baby stuff washed and set up, cabinets cleaned out and reorganized for baby bottles and such. Just feels so good! I am however a little nervous about Thursday because we've never had a planned c-section and I'm not sure what to expect. The last time we went through this it wasn't exactly a pleasant experience. I'm pretty sure things will be different this time around but it's still different than what I'm used to.
I wonder a lot of things: I wonder how long I'll have to wait to hold him? How long until I can nurse him? How long will I be restricted in what I'm supposed to do? ( not that I usually follow that guide line ) but I'm thinking with the c-section you kinda have to a little more :) On top of the many questions swirling around in my brain about the actual c-section, I'm wondering how my little Obadiah is going to handle this...he hasn't been away from me for this amount of time since he's been released from the hospital....AHHH! He'll be in good hands, it's not that I don't trust those that will be watching him, it's just so new and different. What about the rest of my kids, how will they handle being away from me for 3 days? The older ones will hold it together but I know it still won't be easy for them. Nehemiah probably won't mind too much the first day but I'm worried about the second and third day. And even when I do get to come home I won't be back to my "normal" self. I just can't wait until this is done and I'm at home taking care of my "gang" again. Or maybe they'll be taking care of me! Guess we'll have to wait and see. Until then I'm leaving all of these "wonders and worries" with God, he seems to handle them better than I do anyway.

a poductive day

Saturday I took Elijah and Obadiah into Sarasota for their well checks. They had appointments at 9:00 and 9:20. So we get to the doctor's office, sign in, and go outside to wait (to avoid all of the germs) when the receptionist comes out and says "what are they here for today?"
Me- "well checks"
receptionist- just kinda looks at me and says"OK"
Me- "what's wrong?"
receptionist- "well their actually not on the schedule until next Saturday".
Me- "Are you kidding me?"
receptionist- "we'll work you guys in because I know you have a long drive to get here"
Me- "thank you but you guys look like your already really booked, we'll come back next Saturday"
receptionist-"if your sure"
Me-" yeah it was my mistake, we'll see you next week"

So after that mildy irritating event, the boys and I decide to go garage sailing! I still needed a couple of things for the baby, so I thought maybe we could find them at a yard sale. Sarasota had SO many yard sales on Friday, and I was able to get an infant car seat for $5.00 and a solid pinewood dining room table with 6 chairs for $50.00! It's huge and fits all of us comfortably!! WooHoo! I am so thankful for this table, we've been sitting either half in the living room and half in the dining room to eat or squished together at the table. So this is so exciting to me!
Elijah also got a few good deals. He got a razor scooter for $5.00, a basketball hoop with balls for $5.00, and a bow for .50! He decided that he really likes garage sales :)
All in all it turned out to be a good day!

What I'm thankful for today...

Today I'm thankful for:
My relationship with Jesus Christ
My children's laughter coming from the "school room" where they're supposed to be working :)
That it's still warm enough outside that my kids are going outside in shorts and t-shirts. {pants make SO much more laundry}
That Obadiah is learning to communicate in ways other than point and scream.
That I had a nice, big, ice cold, Pepsi for breakfast!
Paper towels- they're great replacements for wipes when you run out.
The different "quirks" that each of my kids have and how each of them, with they're "quirks", completes us as a family
My husband
and the fact that he still puts up with me during these last few months of pregnancy
because I know it's not always easy.
My planner-I'd be lost without it!
Well that's my list for today! What are you thankful for??

11-3-09

It is November 3, 2009, and it has been 8 months since I've logged into my blog. A lot has happened/changed in those 8 months!
We have bought a home and had the joy of moving. Honestly not my favorite thing to do with all of our "stuff".
The kids finished their school year at the public school! They were all so excited when school was out and begging me to home school them again! So we are full swing in to homeschooling the 6 oldest.
Obadiah has been discharged from both of his therapies and 2 of his specialist, Praise the Lord for that!! He is doing exceptionally well. And we are in awe daily at how far God has brought him. He truly is a miracle.
We have also found out that we are going to have 8 blessings! I am having a scheduled c-section on November 19Th, which is a completely new experience for me. Three of my seven children have been born at home, two at a birth center, and two at the hospital. Obadiah was born via c-section but it definitely wasn't planned. So this is a new and exciting. For the first time we actually "know" what day we'll be having our baby! BTW if our ultrasound is correct baby number 8 is a BOY, we're planning on naming him Hezekiah James.
Well I think that about catches me up on the big changes in our daily living. At least all I can think of at almost 2:00 a.m.
Hopfully I'll be a little more dilligent with this in the forth coming weeks.

public school

We have had to make a very hard decision concerning our 5 oldest children. We're sending them into the public school system...It may not seem like that big of a deal....but this is their first year in a public school, until last year they went to a small private school and last year I home schooled them. I had planned on continuing to home school until high school and then if they wanted to attend the high school they could, if not we'd go on with the homeschooling thing. BUT Obadiah threw a little bit of curve ball in my direction and so we had to figure something else out. Financially we couldn't send all 5 of them back to a private school and no one was jumping up and down to be "our teacher" for a year so that pretty much left us with one option. The public school system. All in all it has been a good experience. They have enjoyed being in the conventional school setting again. Making new friends, school lunches, field trips, and science projects. But they can't wait until next year when they can be home schooled again! They just make my little mommy heart melt. They really liked being home schooled. We did have fun and I got to know my kids a whole lot better during that year than I ever imagined possible. They probably think the same thing about me. This next school year will be a little more challenging because we do have Obadiah and he is a little go getter! He's getting into EVERYTHING and loving every minute of it. Although it may be a little more challenging I'm sure it will be just as rewarding as last year and I can't wait!
